With Week 15 in the books, TSNs Chris Schultz offers his thoughts on the Bills defence, Johnny Manziel, the Seahawks and more. Carolina Hurricanes Store . 1. For the 2nd week in a row, the best collective performance of the entire week was the Buffalo Bills defence. Against the Denver Broncos, they gave up just 173 passing yards and this week against Green Bay, it was only 185 yards allowed. Thats Manning and Rodgers with Carr and Brady to go with the final two games being at 0akland and at New England. In Arizona, you have Todd Bowles as a very successful defensive coordinator. In St Louis, you have Gregg Williams very much the same. But the best hire Doug Marrone made was Jim Schwartz after his time was over with the Detroit Lions. It will create exceptional optimism in the off-season for the Bills because if they ever create an offence like their defence, only the Bills will be a legitimate threat to the Patriots in the AFC East. And no one that follows the Bills is unaware of the reality they are progressing and improving without one of the best young linebackers in the entire league, Kiko Alonso. Did the Bills benefit from seven, that is seven, dropped passes from Aaron Rodgers receivers? They sure did. Yet the Packers did benefit from Jordy Nelson breaking up a sure touchdown return on an interception in a big way, too. Two of the best offences in football back-to-back and the Bills played extremely well on defence. What it does do in one of those negative, yet perhaps positive, ways is put even more pressure on EJ Manuel to max out his potential in 2015. I dont know if Kyle Orton can lead a team to a Super Bowl victory but I wonder if Manuel has a chance if he reaches his maximum in ability. When you are drafted in the first round, it first says you have the body to do it, to be really, really good. Do you have the mind, the confidence, the work ethic and the toughness in so many different forms? Those are the unanswered questions that all Bills fans will know a year from now. How good is the Bills defence? Well, the bottom line evaluation is points allowed. Detroit is the best, allowing a league-low 238. Next are Seattle and Arizona with 242 and 244, respectively. And then Kansas City and Buffalo are tied, allowing 254 each. If the Bills have a 10-win season, and that very well could happen, this season is a success no matter if the make the playoffs or not. 2. Johnny Manziel. Well, he had a tough day. One of the issues that stood in the way of his success was he played a very focused Bengals team that wanted to win the division, was aware of the Browns dominance back in Week 10 and yes, looked at Manziel as a spoiled brat not deserving of respect. Six times in the game, Bengals defensive players used the Manziel money sign as their sign of football dominance. The pressure Manziel must have been feeling had to be intense and in the best case scenario, the Browns open on offence and have success and therefore confidence. But the exact opposite happened. Cincinnati ran 22 plays and scored on their opening possession and all of a sudden, youre calling plays from a points deficit in the first quarter. Manziel ran six plays which were two 3-and-outs. It will be interesting to see how Mike Pettine handles the last two games at the Jets and at Pittsburgh. They do know and have a lot of film on Brian Hoyer, not much at all on Manziel. I say start Johnny and see what you got. 3. How good are the Seattle Seahawks? The last eight opponents they have played lost the next week after playing them. That is when you know you have a great team that it takes something out of you seven days later. I know Arizona is good, real good, a playoff team, but they are on their third quarterback with Ryan Lindley and now he has to run at least 60 plays against the fastest defence in football. I doubt they will ask Logan Thomas, a fourth round draft choice, to take over. Confidence is everything and you put a young player in there, you can damage it forever. Having said that, Lindey is only in his second year. If Arizona beats Seattle, then Bruce Arians is easily the coach of the year. 4. In the NFC South, the division winner will have an 8-8 record at best. The last time a team won a division with a losing record was the Seahawks at 7-9 back in 2010. There will be a lot of discussion about changing the playoff format in that a losing division winner should not be in the playoffs compared to a team with a winning record. Not sure. Still like the intensity of the battle to win the division and what it takes. New Orleans, Atlanta and Carolina would be looking at next year and not this year if the divisions had no value and the NFC South would have no discussion. Keep it the way it is. 5. You go to three NFC Championships and one Super Bowl appearance in three years and your time is up. It happened to Andy Reid, it happened to Jeff Fisher and it pretty much happens to everyone at some point in a career. It is just time and the reasons are not always known or obvious. The value of Jim Harbaugh will be immense and genuine. He will have the pick of top assistants and a history of experience on a personal level and will take his dismissal personally if it happens. He is under contract so he could be traded as a commodity, but what if he is traded to a place he does not want to go? That opens up a lot of other questions. In watching the 49ers and Seahawks, I dont think the players are not playing hard; they did. They miss Navorro Bowman and Patrick Willis more than anticipated. Marcus Marriota won the Heisman but Harbaugh has more value to the next team. 6. Best game of Week #16 should be Indianapolis at Dallas. The Colts have won the AFC South but Dallas has to keep winning to win the NFC East. An interesting experiment here to be answered: is it the running back or the offensive line? If DeMarco Murray cant play, it will be Joseph Randel and Lance Dunbar at running back; both good but not great as it compares to Murray. If either of those running backs truly excel, then put another compliment on the extended list for the Dallas Cowboys offensive line. The Colts are a tough team to beat and if Dallas does lose and Philadelphia wins over Washington on Saturday, then Philadelphia is tied with Dallas and the Eagles own the first tie breaker in division wins. 7. I am more convinced than ever it is not so much what your opponent does as much as it is what you do or dont. Both teams were 5-8 and in the first quarter, you see why. They cant control their own actions and reactions. When you watch Jay Cutler and Drew Brees in the same game, you dont notice the difference in skill as much as confidence in body language. Brees takes control of time and energy. Whether it is good or bad, he keeps pushing forward and dismisses the negative; everything is moving forward. With Cutler not as much. He reacts to the energy while Brees creates and dictates to the energy. Leadership is a lot of things but a key one is demeanor. Body language. The way you look and act that others see. Its a major strength for Brees, not so much for Cutler. The Saints are now 6-8 and no one will want to go to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for a playoff game. Hurricanes Jerseys 2020 . — Brad Gushue of St. Hurricanes Jerseys 2021 . Jurrjens signed a minor league contract with Cincinnati in May, and was 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA at Triple-A Louisville. He has a 53-37 record with a 3.63 ERA in seven major league seasons, including five with Atlanta.Aaron Rodgers threw for three touchdowns as the Green Bay Packers survived over 250 receiving yards form Julio Jones to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 43-37 on Monday night. Rodgers threw two touchdown passes to Jordy Nelson and one to Eddie Lacy as the Packers improved to 6-0 at Lambeau Field this season. Eddie Lacy and James Starks each added a rushing touchdown for Green Bay. Jones’s 259 receiving yards were a record for a single player against the Packers and 18th-most in a game all-time. Carolina Hurricanes Pro Shop. Jones left the game in the fourth quarter with a hip injury and did not return. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw for four touchdowns and one interception in the loss. The loss dropped the Falcons to 5-8 on the season, but the team remains atop the NFC South. The Packers (10-3) remained in first place in the NFC North, one game ahead of the Detroit Lions. ‚ ‚ ‚
